Music
Music is central to school life here at Windlesham and is a highly valued part of the curriculum. Our performances – large and small – are known for reaching a high standard, and the children take great pride in participating in them.
We have high expectations for our pupils as we believe that music forms an important part of their education. Our curriculum gives every child the chance to experience playing different instruments, including the recorder, the guitar, African drums and classroom percussion.
During their time here children develop a good sense of rhythm and pitch, with many of them joining one of our three choirs. With choirs at every level, the children are constantly being challenged with different styles and sometimes complex music. All pupils also learn notation and music appreciation from a young age.
Our aim is to infuse the children with a love of music and a ‘can do’ attitude to their learning which they can take with them on their educational journey.
